Emerging Artists

DISCLAIMER: Photos ripped from Toh's facebook album.

And so, our July was concluded this way... :)
It was a nice performance, seeing my old pal standing on the stage darlingly pursuing his dreams. Everyone's applaud was a form of motivation for him to continue moving on.

This route may be tough, but I guess it makes a real man out of it.

Families and friends gathered on this special day, YES YeeYen and YahFong was there too, and also Ms Yati and her husband, Toh and two flautist (Sorry I can't match their names!)

So many memories flashes back as if I went back to time. We picked up the flute the very same day thirteen years ago and look at him now! Time really flies. Also, with more interraction between Toh recently, I really missed those band days!

And I'm sucha coward not to say hello to his mum!
I am so disrespectful I feel.

But anyway, we all have moved on, like how hubby says. :)

Lastly, to think of it, this two guys made so much impact to my life...

...... really.

WGS Speech Day

20.07.2013
WGS's once-a-year Speech Day is here again.
This time, Toh and hubby got the "Friends of Woodgrove" award. :)

This very day, I've got so much mixed feelings.
I feel so happy being back to this familiar place, but without familiar faces. Luckily my section is there and they didn't leave me alone. And gladly, I have my camera with me. That helps to remove that awkward line between me and the rest of the section, away.

8am, the band falls in and started their day.
I dont know if it's me or the band, I feel that passion we used to have in my band days. Or was it me? But why the teachers say so too?

Fall-in for attendance marking

And the U.O checked for attire; the nails and socks!
See the girls serious at work!

It's been a while since I went back, and I think my clinching a Distinction made them more aware of themselves; I mean the way they carry themselves infront of people.... Or maybe due to the change of leaders... I dont know, everything may be possible.

But I feel that passion!

Tune in was next;

The actual event starts at 9am, so Toh and hubby went down to wait for their award presentation, while the kids and myself waited at the bandroon. Band was the last item estimated performance time: 11am.

It's a long wait! But meanwhile, they dressed up and did some self practicing (the whole band joined in!) and sections by sections went to take section photos!

Little Mira. She's my batch Mira's sister. Such a small world. And her siblings are all bandsmen graduated from WGSSB! How awesome is that?

The flutes, okay..... this is a bad job compared to the rest, cos the other sections went down to take photos with the greens!

Saxes here:

And clarinets:

Before I could finish all the sections, Mr Jerry wanted to distribute the certs for the new committee, and followed by their performance already. So ...... my collection ends here.

And here, a full band photo to conclude the day.

Oh, I almost forgot...
Here is Mrs Song & I :)

O'Pals On Vesak Day

This year's Vesak day is special.
We finally met out long-lost Benny, also GuoQiang.

No matter how long apart we have not met, we will still remain as good friends.
So precious. <3

SYF 2013

"BAND NUMBER 14,
WOODGROVE SECONDARY SCHOOL
CERTIFICATE OF DISTINCTION!!"

Inside the intensed conference hall, many emotions build up within everyone. Through the silence, all members holding their hands, friends or foes, with their tears on the verge of bursting out like a tap. Whether or not you got a bronze or gold with honors, you cry.

"BAND NUMBER 14,
WOODGROVE SECONDARY SCHOOL
CERTIFICATE OF DISTINCTION!!"

No more.
(Now with this high tech thing call the internet, results were released online at http://www.singaporeyouthfestival.sg/results.aspx) We can all cry infront of the computer hugging a teddy bear.

SYF 2013 finally came to an end, rounding off perfectly with an dream-come-true result for all. Although this is no longer my band , but I still feel belonged to here. Under the baton of Mr Toh Yang Yang, I am still a proud member, a proud Alumni.

It's been 10 years.
This dream, it's been ten freaking long years.

"Friends in Band, are friends forever" - Mr Toh.
We will never forget the things he taught us. And to us, getting a Gold is always our dream. Although it took us ten years to obtain that, I personally think that it's all worth it. All the love, care and patience, finally paid off. :)

Everytime when I step into this band, it makes me miss my own band days. I believe everyone have their story to tell and for me, Guo Qiang and Yuhui, we shared many many life events through these 12-13 years of friendship. And we are really glad, from our heart, that Mr Toh is now our conductor again.

There are so much things we learnt in band, and are still using.
This band, makes us who we are today.

First SYF - 2003
Under the baton of Mr Toh

SYF 2005

SYF 2007

SYF 2009

SYF 2013

These are the memories that will stay with me forever. And I am glad that I chose band as my CCA in my secondary school days. This is something I never regret. Hope the Alumni band will grow well, bringing people who treasure this kinship as much as us, together. :D

SYF 2013 + Upper Seletar Reservoir

This is our 6th SYF.
Not exactly "ours" but we never failed to be there to support the kids! So, this time round is the same.

Frankly speaking, I'm impressed by their playings. And to be really frank, I think they did a better job than the Alumni's concert last month.

I shall choose photos I especially like to display here. The rest, please refer to FACEBOOK! So, here is the whole event (in short).

They fall in for attire check at 7.30am.

... and Jerry, along with Gina, briefed the Sec 1s

The kids then warm up and did some tuning in...
And off we went, heading down to S.C.H.
We were running late, the traffic was bad. And the ver moment we hit the venue, we rush into Tuning Room.

*all their serious faces*

The whole performace was soon over. And we all agreed that they did pretty well. :)

A group photo before the principal left..

And the teachers soon gathered to talk about the whole process.

Back to school, we took a huge group photo again.

Look at all their smiles..

And my lovely section, the Saxophones.

And their day ended with a group hug. <3

And so after their performance, we hang around school, had lunch together and moved on. Vinc and YY went to CCH after that, while Yui and I hung at Northpoint while waiting for them.

Picked up some technical stuff from yy with my DSLR and I think I very 厉害 because I managed to figure out the settings just yesterday! And I was right! heheheee....

We headed to Upper Seletar Reservoir after the guys finish CCHY.. And took some photos there~

Acting a Jump shot:

Hahaha.. I know it looked stupid. So here's a real one:
Look at the mist !
We were there waiting for sunset, but there were too much cloud.

No sunset nevermind, we play with Jumping..... No, not we, is 'them'.

And I learnt about manual focusing:
